Dog Days of Summer...
WHOA...was it hot at the last Music Mutts & Margaritas event. However, the nice people over at Music City Bar & Grill have gone the extra mile to make us a little more comfortable with increased shade on the patio. We love the giant, red table-umbrellas! While the dogs enjoyed cooling in the kiddy-pool, their people relaxed in good company with cold libations from the bar.
This week's entertainment, provided by Tommy Hatcher and Greg Mangus, sizzled in the heat. They performed an eclectic mix of unplugged rockin' roll... everything from Elvis to Bob Seger and the crowd enjoyed Heather performing the beautiful ballad LANDSLIDE, by Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac. The quality of music should come as no surprise since we live in a town where most everyone knows a working musical talent... if they're not one themselves.
The Humane Society of Sumner County was the featured group for whom we raised money this week. They showed up with a great audience and a sincere thanks goes out to all the new and regular patrons who continue to brave the heat to show their support. It's so important that we help these agencies who work so hard to make a difference. The varied groups work tirelessly to ensure that the four-legged unfortunates in our area--abused, abandoned or stray--don't suffer the consequences of having been dealt a bad hand of fate. Our dog, Rudy, was a rescue and, GOD are we blessed to have him in our lives!
Heather Davis, editor of NASHVILLE PAW, showed up with a stack of the hot-off-the-press August issue. We at Nashville Pet Pictures were overjoyed to see the mention of Music, Mutts & Margaritas, loaded with photos taken by us on one of our prior visits.
Keep your eyes peeled for the August/September issue of NFocus magazine, soon to hit the newsstands. They, too, are doing an article about this worthwhile weekly event. Be sure to make it out for yappy hour with your "numero uno animale", if not next Saturday then some other Saturday before the end of August! Hope to see ya' there.
