life is good &
wednesday was spectacular in its extremes
now about the knitting olympics - as is usually the case with me, just the right thing seemed to make itself happen as if on cue and i never even saw it coming. at one point, i had even considered making my challenge for the 16 days to NOT knit at all. instead, i would spend the time doing everything else that has fallen by the wayside since i first uttered the words aloud "i'm going to open a yarn store."
since that fateful day, i have virtually lived, breathed and slept Threaded Bliss Yarns. don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining about it at all, just stating the facts. if i hadn't been willing to take this adventure on 24/7/365, then i'd have been a fool to have taken so much as a single step in this direction.
anyway, in the past 13 days, i've probably knitted less than i have in any 13 day period since i returned to the craft right after 9/11/91 (after a roughly ten year hiatus). the beauty for me in this "olympic event" is what i have done instead of knit. finally, my house is back in order after the great yarn deluge of 2004. honestly, it stayed a chaotic mess forever since i've spent all my time since then either working or knitting. with that much going on, very little time remained for anything else.
okay, so my house is clean and pretty much in order (there are still a couple of closets i need to tackle!). that task couldn't possibly have taken 13 days, right? well, almost right. in the past 13 days, i've also taken quite a bit of time off from the shop (lots of it spent cleaning, actually!). i read, i relaxed, i caught up with friends near and far, i've had some fun and some really great meals and somehow, even with insomnia of a heretofore incomprehensible magnitude, i've relaxed. for the record, that actually means i've been as relaxed as much as I possibly can be. if you've been reading my blog for a while, then you know the truth. i define a type A+++ personality so relaxation doesn't quite occur naturally without some serious prompting! now THAT's a challenge worth platinum (even gold isn't good enough to reward ME for RELAXING).
i will finish the coat. knowing me, it will probably be soon but it definitely won't be on sunday. i, for one, am perfectly happy about that - everything in the past 13 days has been worth every second NOT spent knitting...
...and then some!
BEGIN THE NEXT CHALLENGE!!
I need something to get my mind off the stress and these BORING socks.
Let me know what I can do to help.
Thanks for letting Rudy be a Potty Prize again. Unfortunately I had to prove that we came in and didn't spend any money. sure and glad I didn't buy the poncho stuff on the way out. See ya Thursday night - unless I am packing

I knew that I knew that yarn, Deirdre. As usual, I had fun with Mr. Vinnie this morning.
Michelle, wanna know something funny? In the very little bit of sleep I've gotten lately, I've actually dreamt that little baby "owlets" were climbing out of that column on which the owl sits!

Hope you had a great evening. The "unidentified" yarn on the booties I had today was Karabella. It's Vintage Cotton.

Perhaps by cleaning and organizing the house, your mind will also have some clearing thus enabling you to sleep more. Perhaps your insomina is your connection with the owl? LOL. You do win a medal for accomplishing what you have done even if it isn't knitting! I'm still knitting around and around and around. 4 inches to go!
