Carolyn's R.I.P.*

Carolyns_rug_2_b

*R.I.P. - it doesn't stand for "ripping out" (though we all have to do it every now and then!) and it doesn't stand for "rest in peace."

R.I.P. = Rug In Progress!

She's using Cascade Sierra triple-stranded and this is the start of the second rug she's made this way. It is awesome and I'm going to make one for our master bathroom so I can get one just the exact size and the exact color that I want!

Carolyn rocks -
'nuff said!

Houston, We Have A Problem (or two!)

Rudy's World - where all good dog toys go to die. See Exhibit A:

Heave_a_beaver

Ooops - I hate running out of yarn when binding off. There are two more ruffles to go and I'm starting on my fourth skein now. The top and bottom ruffles are worked on 97 stitches while I believe you only pick up 80-something stitches on the sides so maybe, just maybe, I'll not have to go into a fifth skein. But if I do, I bet I'd still have enough yarn left over to make this adorable baby hat.

Last but not least I leave you with Harley Sunning. Tim says I couldn't possibly love that cat any more if I'd given birth to him myself. . . He just might be right. It's great when you finally meet your "soul-cat!"

I Love Having My Mojo Back

In rush-hour gridlock on Friday evening I cast on for this:

Blanket_first_ruffle

And now I just can't seem to stop knitting!  I knit in the car, I knit in line at the bank, I knit walking around JoAnn's (buying fabric), I knit at the post office, I knit while driving, I knit while walking around the shop . . . you get the idea.

It's Blue Sky Alpacas' Eyelet Baby Blanket pattern. I am knitting it with their Dyed Cotton in the Lemonade colorway.  I LOVE THIS YARN TO DEATH!  In fact, I love it so much I hand-wound all 150 yds of the skein shown above.  Note the fact that I finally succeeded in making a workable hand-wound center-pull ball!  Okay, one more gratuitous shot of my center-pull ball just for kicks!

The shop's doing great and the re-arranging is almost done!  Come by and check it out - and don't forget, tomorrow is Thursday so it's Stitch and Bitch till 8 pm.  Bring you yarn, your hooks and/or needles and your sense of humor.  I'm sure it'll be a blast as always.

Is Friday the Thirteenth YOUR Lucky Day?

It just might be if you're one of the folks who clicked on a certain link in one of my previous mailings. If you're one of the lucky ones, you'll see a suprise in your email today!

Friday The Thirteenth

Always a lucky day for me and this is destined to be another great day. Wouldn't you know I was lucky enough to wake up to yet another reason for gleeful laughter?

Life is good.

Knitting is better.

And, oh yeah, I finished another project - my Wool in the Woods Cherub sock*. Pictures later, I promise! My take on this yarn: first, it is even prettier knit up than on the hank. Two, I was able to use size 2 needles so it was a quick knit. Three, their merino is some of the cushiest and springiest sock yarn around. Lastly, I actually liked the feel of knitting that yarn so much I may even make a second sock to match!

*Yes, that is sock SINGULAR not sockS. The degree to which I suffer from O.S.S. (One-Sock-Syndrome) seems boundless. That, however, is one of the many beauties of owning a yarn store - I can knit just one sock and call it a store model!
