Frappr News

Yippee for Kimberly from Brussels, Belgium!  She is the first non-North American friend of Threaded Bliss to identify herself on Frappr.  If you've not yet checked it out - go HERE now and do so.  Basically you tell them what city and state and/or country you live in, send me a message if you want and even upload a photo if you'd like and then it maps where you are.  So far, 39 intrepid readers have signed up and I really appreciate it.

It really is fun so go see for yourself and sign on while you are there.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday.

I'll Bet Lots Of You Think This Is Good News

We were all way too wiped out to do anything at the end of Sunday other than turn off the computer, lock the doors and go home to pass out with total exhaustion.  That means - when we get there today we will find the store is the abject mess it was at the end of Sunday!

There are still some grab bags that were not purchased over the weekend and lots and lots of regular customers who were out of town or otherwise occupied during the three day "Mom's Gone Nuts" sale.  So . . . here's the good news, I'll keep the grab bags on the floor at the sale price for a couple of days.  First come, first served.   (Hey Jen - there might even be more of that yarn you want for the baby blanket!!)

Speaking of the sale - WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW.  It was AMAZING!  It was fun, it was exhausting and it was a HUGE SUCCESS.  As you can imagine, when I decide to do something like this, I set a goal.  I arrive at the goal by determining the amount of business I'd like to do and the amount of business I think we can do and then choose a figure accordingly.  Well, suffice it to say, we hit the nail squarely on the head this time!  Oddly enough, I did the math at about 10 of six on Sunday night thinking we were done.  Get this - the three day totals added together (without any rounding of anything) added up to my goal to the penny!  Of course in the ten minutes after that we did another 100+ dollars in sales thus besting my goal.  But when I saw that figure at 5:50, I almost fainted.

Okay, I better get to the store and start cleaning up.

My Day Off: I got my glasses adjusted (they were literally falling off my face if I turned my head too quickly!), wandered around a bookstore for a bit and finished crocheting my Cloche out of Hip To Crochet using Elsbeth Lavold Silky Wool.  That's crochet project number four and even though a cloche isn't the best kind of hat for me to wear (I look like a pinhead in them), I love it.  That was all I did.  No cleaning of the house, no laundry, no grocery shopping, no nothing that really should have been done.  But, I needed a day of nothing more than I ever have so that's what I did.  The rest of that stuff can be done in bits and pieces during the week.

Okay, I've rambled enough.  Look for a coherent, cohesive post in the very near future with photos and everything.

I'm Gonna Make More Grab Bags!

Well, it looks like you guys like the grab bag idea and by the end of yesterday, there weren't that many left!  So I'm going in to the shop this morning to make more.  I also suspect I may deepen the discounts on certain things as well.  Who knows?  I guess you'll have to come by and see for yourselves.

Today's the last day of the "Mom's Gone Nuts" Sale - don't miss some of the once in a lifetime deals (and help us not have to count so much yarn next month when we do inventory!!!!)

I Love My Job

I Love My Co-workers

I Love David's Friend Wade And Sister Becky*

I Love My Customers

I Love My Threaded Bliss

Today was the most fun I've had in the store in a while.  I bet tomorrow and Sunday will be even better.

Thanks to everyone who came by today and congratulations to those of you lucky shoppers who happened upon some of the 60-75% off grab bags!

*Wade and Becky volunteered to help out this weekend when I became unexpectedly short-staffed.  Thanks to them we had enough people to make it possible for everyone working to take bathroom breaks!  Without them, this might not be quite so much fun.

We've put together some awesome grab bags and created some really great deals.  We've made space, made tags, and worked, worked, worked like crazy all this week (and will continue to do so through closing time on Sunday).

Why did we do all of this?

WE DID IT FOR OUR CUSTOMERS.

Crazy Grab Bags

As always, I don't decide what is on sale or for how much until the day of the sale EXCEPT this time I know one category of the sale.  That is the Crazy Grab Bags which are all 50% off.

Rest assured, what we are putting into those bags through this close of business today is not currently on the selling floor.  They include yarns by Debbie Bliss, Noro, OnLine, Berroco and many others.  Who knows what I might decide to "bag" tomorrow and yes, I am aware that tomorrow is Thanksgiving but hey, I own a retail biz so I'll be working most of the day.

I've been bagging for two days now and there's more to make.  It is a bit of a shame that I can't be a customer at this sale because I think I'd have a blast if I were.

See you all there and Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. If you catch me falling asleep on my feet during the sale, feel free to poke me awake!!!!!!!!

This Year I Am Thankful For . . .

Those awesome people who patronize Threaded Bliss.  They all do so, so much to add to the richness of our lives that we all agreed it's time we do something special for them.

Mark my words, this will be a SPECIAL sale!

See ya there.  Click on the picture to see it clearer and larger.  Doesn't Rudy just look so pleased with himself?

What are you thankful for this year?

PS: I'm really, really thankful for those who will put up with my absolute ineptitude when it comes to email lists!

Hillsboro High School Knit Wits Update

They raised FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for Red Cross Katrina Relief by selling knit and crochet hats, scarves, shawls, bags, mittens, ponchos and more made out of donated yarn.

WAY TO GO.

These young folks are truly amazing and I'm lucky to have been able to play a part in their huge success.  Next, hats for all the students at Edgehill Elementary and crochet lessons on Nov. 30 at the school by Emily and me.

If you have any old yarn, needles or crochet hooks you would like to donate to the group it would be greatly appreciated by all.  You can drop your items at the shop and we will make deliveries to the school as required.

Thanks in advance for supporting the Knit Wits.

Suffice it to say . . .

Threaded Bliss Yarns' customers must be the most amazing, incredible, thoughtful, fun, kind, supportive, interesting, talented and diverse group of knitters and crocheters ever amassed anywhere at any time.

I am so blessed.  Thank you all.

More later.

P.S. Tai Shan just keeps getting cuter and more fun to watch everyday.  Yesterday I was lucky enough to get a glimpse as he managed to climb up on a ledge.  Getting back down was another story.  He sort of somersaulted down head first but managed to land on his feet.

P.P.S. Frappr, which I mentioned vaguely in the post below, is way cool.  Basically you go there and put yourself on a world map.  You can post a picture, send a "shout out" and see where other readers of this blog live.  Go sign up today, okay?  It's fun.
