Ah, Faye - how far you've come. When Faye first started coming to the shop she was a good knitter. Well, now Faye is a FANTASTIC knitter unafraid to try new techniques and consistently excelling at each one. Here are the latest sweaters she made for her adorable granddaughters.
Having seen pictures of the girls for whom she knitted these sweaters, I will say that I'm hard pressed to decide which are more adorable. I'll have to get a photo of the girls wearing the sweaters and you'll see what I mean!
And now, for a totally gratuitous photo of Rudy just because he's adorable too! Here he is with his newest bestest friend - a.k.a. Lil' Bear. I went to The Dog Store (that's the name, really!) to get him a new Snakey for the house since the first one stays at the shop now. I used to be a frequent visitor of the store before I got busy with my own shop and when I saw there were no more Snakeys and turned to ask about them, the owner said: "It's YOU! Let me guess, we haven't seen you in forever because now you own a yarn shop, right?" I thought I was speaking with Karnak the Magnificent until she said that they just couldn't keep the snake toy in stock anymore because people keep coming in there to buy "the same snake that the dog at the yarn shop has!" How funny is that?
All together now: "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!"
Now check this out - it is Artyarns and it is coming to Threaded Bliss. This stuff is incredible all around from texture to drape to hand to color and depth. Exquisite Little Knits, Knitting with Luxurious Specialty Yarns,
a wonderful book, uses lots of this lovely yarn.
Isn't it pretty?
Presenting now: Attack of the Handpaint Hat using Colinette Point Five and Lamb's Pride Bulky (or in David's case Araucania Nature Wool doubled). The pattern is from
.
Speaking of Point Five, we've placed yet another order for this awesome yarn that just keeps flying out the doors of the shop.
Ah, the shop. How is it possible that this entire endeavor just keeps getting better and better and better? Last Sunday was an AMAZING day. The women of Hadassah came by to learn how to knit so that they can make blankets for donation to Hadassah hospital. Amy and Cherise are shown here capably teaching everyone. It was great to see the shop bustling like that and witness all the new knitters having their ah-ha moments. A good time was had by all. Thanks Cherise and Amy!
But as always, not all of the fun was being had in front of the fireplace. The table was hopping as well. Here are Sylvia, Genia, half of Bonnie and Leslie hanging out on Sunday. Whenever Sylvia's in the house, it's like getting a free comedy show with the purchase of yarn. We love ya, Sylvia and you keep us in stitches!
As if the weekend couldn't get any better - our great pal Morgan, senior at Clemson, was in Nashville for the weekend. Morgan spent her days hanging out with us at the shop. Poor Morgan, we are all trying every convincing tactic we can think of to get her to move to Nashville when she graduates and spend some time working at the shop. That's all she needs - a bunch of knitting pals planning her future!! But, since I know Morgan checks in with the blog daily, I'll try again. PLEASE MORGAN - MOVE HERE!! Here she is with Sue and Elizabeth.
Not only did Morgan hang out while a bunch of women planned her future - she also finished her very first sweater. Can you believe that this can be her FIRST sweater? She used Araucania Nature Wool and a pattern from the Holiday 2004 issue of Vogue Knitting. She's a natural knitter, I tell ya.
I'll end my post for the day with one last gratuitous adorable dog shot. What a model he's turned out to be - he's just fetching in the Squiggle Squared scarf and a single baby bootie.
Thanks for stopping by the blog!
