Rudy On The Porch

This is my security system when I sit on the front porch to do some work or whatever. Well, he is one part of our security system at least!

A nice cop pulled over the other day when I was taking photos in front of the house just to say hi. And to tell me that a dog's the best protection one can have. Oh, and to ask what I do for a living.

I told him Rudy rocked. I told him I am a budding writer. It turns out he'd bet his partner that's what I did (when they do patrol and see me, I'm usually on the front porch either typing or writing). He was curious about the camera though since he's seen me around with that too. I told him writing and fine art photography are two of my passions and that if I have writer's block, I'll take pictures to inspire me or the other way around.

Apparently, this nice policeman wants to be a writer too. If I were him, I'd trade the body armor for a keyboard or notebook in a New York minute.

Rudy amongst the clover!  It's nice to see him do this since he always used to finish "his business" by running crazy dog circles around and around whoever was on the other end of the leash.  

The vet had said that it could take as many as six months before we saw improvement from treating him with thyroid medication.  She also warned that he was going to shed, big time.  She wasn't kidding.  Between the cats shedding for summer and Rudy loosing clumps of hair, there is absolutely no reason to put away either the swiffer or the vacuum (and we have one of each for each floor).

This was within mere hours of Harley coming into this house for the very first time! (turned out to be moving in) It obviously did not take him long to feel at home! Also, when I took this picture, I still wasn't sure I could like a cat, let alone love one!!

It also may have been the night he first got the nickname Puddle. When that cat lays lies down, he just spreads out and becomes literally a puddle of cat. Just today Tim came up with the compound Pudgle - I love it!

Good days . . .

you just gotta love 'em!  Fun new photos to come soon when I get time to go through them.  One solution to the shaky hands/focusing issue is to fire six or seven frames in quick succession because at least one will be in focus!  Necessity is the mother of invention - wonder what I'll come up with next.

Here's hoping everyone had a nice Memorial Day and if not in person, in their hearts, you all thanked our armed forces.
